"You are the light of the world..."
 :

On July 15th, 29 young pilgrims and 6 helpers from our Deanery began their journey to Ontario, Canada for World Youth Day 2002. A busy 15 day programme of activities is planned, including catechetical sessions, pastoral work, and sightseeing, finishing in Toronto with an all night vigil with the Holy Father and a Papal Mass.
Here are a few pictures of the pilgrims and some of the things they have being doing throughout the year, whether fund raising to help pay for their journey, or helping out in the parishes.

Car washing in the winter - a great fund raiser! (remember??)

Helping out at the parish dinner in January
Mass & BBQ at Walsingham

Being commissioned to go out to Toronto by Mgr Tony Rogers, Diocesan Administrator

Final Mass & BBQ before departure day
All the WYD pilgrims would like to say a big
"THANKYOU"
to everyone who helped make their pilgrimage possible.
On July 27th, around half a million young people from around the world will arrive in central Toronto, to spend the night in vigil with the Holy Father. The following day the Papal Mass in the park will bring World Youth Day 2002 to its conclusion. Our prayers go with them.
