Fr Michael Says Goodbye
Fr Michael Johnstone, who has been at All Souls since 1997, said
goodbye
to us last month to go on, first to World Youth Day in Toronto, and
then to take up his new post as Priest in Charge of the parish of
Our Lady of Pity, Swaffham. A final Mass (above) was followed by a party in the
parish centre. Fr Michael has always been very active in the parish,
especially in his work as hospital chaplain, in pastoral visiting,
and in education, through his talks for the 'In My Father's House'
group. He has led several pilgrimages, most notably the annual one
to Ampleforth. His personal encouragement and spiritual support have
brought many people into the Catholic Church over the past few years. His continuing commitment
to the charity 'Let the Children Live!' has been inspiring, bringing a greater awareness of the
plight of the Colombian street children to us all.
He will be missed at All Souls, and all our very best wishes and many prayers go with him to
his new parish.
